Here is one rare bird. This guitar has no serial number, so it’s impossible to know for certain, but by all appearances, it seems to be an early (1960 or ‘61) Gibson-built Broadway made with some leftover NY Epiphone parts. I’ve never seen another vintage Epi with this exact set of features (but it is practically a dead-ringer for the recent reissue).

We have a blonde 17” laminated body with a multi-piece neck (a leftover NYC Epi one from the early 50s), script logo & tree-of-life headstock inlays, cloud inlays, very cool Epi “E” tuners (still functioning well), truss rod cover with a “bump out”, Epi Frequensator tailpiece, genuine Gibson PAF mini humbuckers, 4 Gibson early 60s knobs, original wiring harness, Gibson bridge. The pickup routes appear to be factory and there are no indications of other pickups ever being installed. There is no binding shrinkage on the body (which is common to NY Epis, but not Gibsons), but there is some binding deterioration on the headstock. It has this very interesting heel stinger. I can’t say for sure what’s going on with that. Likely factory, it’s under the clear coat. The pickguard is a modern repro with a vintage “E”. The strap button (singular) is modern. A previous owner took the liberty of writing his name and driver’s license number inside of the body. The original pickguard offgassed and let some drip marks on the body. Those were cleaned up as much as possible and a light clear coat was oversprayed on the top. The guitar has just recently been refretted and professionally set up. The action is nice and low.
