The Norns Shield acts as a platform for a wide range of sound manipulation tasks through a library of community-developed scripts written in Lua and audio engines in SuperCollider. Its functions can include:

- Looper (asynchronous) and granulator

Grids for Norns and Max/MSP
An open, tactile instrument that allows the user to imagine and define its function. The monome grid by default does nothing. Connected to a computer or module, interaction is determined by the chosen application: sequencer, sample cutter, tone map, polyrhythm machine.
Based on the Neotrellis/M0 codebase this comes in a CNC-machined screwless resin enclosure and steel (for strength and rigidity) subframe with brushed raw aluminum top.
