Rare JV-era Fender Japan reissue of the ‘62 Jazz Bass (model JB62-115), JV serial (early 1980s), Vintage White finish, stacked volume/tone controls (stacked pots), Fujigen build with many USA-sourced parts on the deluxe JB62-115s. Excellent collectible for players and collectors.

Weight: 4,2kg

Offered here is a rare and highly sought-after 1982 Fender Japan JB62-115, one of the true highlights of the early JV era. These first-generation Fender Japan instruments were built with exceptional craftsmanship and extremely accurate vintage specifications, and the JB62-115 stood at the top of the Jazz Bass reissue line at the time.

This example features the beautiful Pearl White finish, a JV-prefix serial number, and the distinctive stacked volume/tone knob layout associated with early ’60s Jazz Basses. As a high-grade “115” model, it carries premium components, excellent build quality, and period-correct details throughout. Early JV-series Fender Japan instruments have become true collectibles due to their exceptional build quality and historical significance. The JB62-115 sits at the top of this family

Hardware, pickups, body, neck and circuitry all seem to check out as authentic, but the finish is either a factory special order or a professional body refinish, as the color is pearl white, not vintage white, which as far as we know was not a regular production color. The fit is tight and there is no play or discrepancy in the bolt holes and everything lines up properly, there are no extra holes for bridge realignment or anything else to suggest the neck and body are from different basses. The pick guard is also consistent with the catalog specs.

Features & Highlights

  • JV serial number, representing the earliest and most collectible Fender Japan production period.
  • Model: JB62-115 – the higher-end ’62 reissue specification.
  • Stacked concentric control knobs (volume/tone for each pickup).
  • High-quality Fujigen construction with period-accurate materials.
  • Alder body, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, vintage hardware and pickups.
  • Classic 34" Jazz Bass scale for familiar feel and tone.

Condition

This bass shows normal, honest wear consistent with a well-preserved 40+ year-old instrument. The neck is straight and comfortable, the truss rod functions properly, and the electronics operate cleanly. Small dings may be present, all contributing to its authentic vintage character. Please review all provided photographs to confirm condition and originality.

Sound & Playability

The JB62-115 offers the tight, articulate Jazz Bass response players expect, enhanced by the stacked-pot circuit which allows for more nuanced pickup blending and tonal shaping. The pickups deliver a lively, dynamic voice—bright when needed, but full and warm when rolled back.
