DBZ Diamond Imperial 2013 / One Sexy Beast!

Wow, what a sweet guitar!  This is a DBZ (Dean B Zelinsky) Diamond Imperial from approximately 2013, made in Korea, and in Excellent Condition.  It is a gorgeous guitar, with a beautifully flamed top (Tortoise Shell Burst), and a pair of Seymour Duncan hum bucking pickups with a coil tap.  The body is big, but wafer thin, so it is too comfortable for words.

DBZ Diamond guitars were the brainchild of Dean Zelinsky, of Dean Guitars, started in 2008.  Today, with Zelinsky no longer affiliated, they are just called Diamond Guitars.  From what we can tell of the model and the serial number, this Imperial model appears to date from 2013.

Coming into the shop, it needed a deep cleaning and set up, and very little more.  We cleaned the body and fretboard, cleaned the chrome, set the intonation and strung it up.  

What a delight it is to play!  The guitar features a flamed Maple top, with a Mahogany body and neck, and a Rosewood fretboard.  It has some heft but is very slender in design, and entirely comfortable to play, either standing or seated.  It features a 24 3/4” scale and we have the action set at 5/64ths on the low E and 1/ 16th on the high E.

The pickups are Seymour Duncans, a ’59 in the Neck and a JB in the Bridge.  They are beautifully balanced and have an inherently rich tone, great for rock and roll, jazz or fusion.  Depending on your rig, these will also be great for Hard Rock or Metal.  There is one volume control and one tone, with a coil tap engaged by lifting the Neck Volume (it taps both pickups).

The guitar is in great shape, with only a small area of damage (chips in the finish) along the back of the guitar, near the access panel.  The neck is dead straight, the frets are great, tuners work perfectly, and there is a little loss of chrome to the finish of the pickup covers. Fit and finish in this guitar is of an exceptionally high quality.  The styling is contemporary, yet classic (and classy) and the guitar is going to be striking as seen on stage.

This DBZ Diamond Imperial is strung with Ernie Ball Regular Slinkys (.010-.046) and  ships in an original DBZ fitted Hard case for this guitar.
