Korg Mono/Poly is an excellent 4-VCO powerhouse analog synth. Specs include two EGs, two LFOs, selectable and variable (PW & PWM) waveforms for each oscillator, great FX section, arpeggiator, portamento, noise, detune, CV, trigger in/out, chord memory, and a lot of modulation routings.

Back in 1982, Vince Clarke (in)famously called it lacking character - very undeservedly so, since the key to Mono/Poly's unique character lies in plain sight, in its FX/Key Assignment section, highlighted by the very 1980s looking orange/beige buttons. You can hardly find a similar x-mod/sync combo (routable to either LFO or VCF) in any of the classic synths. And four tunable, variable waveform, voltage-controlled oscillators make it a formidable analog weapon, akin to the Oberheim 4-voice. There are different voice assignment options as well, including unison and two kinds of voice sharing, even allowing for a basic polyphony (all the voices go through the same VCA EG and filter EG though).

Notable users include Trent Reznor, Tangerine Dream, Keith Emerson, Hardfloor, Chemical Brothers, Juno Reactor, The Orb, Oliver, etc.

This unit has been carefully serviced in order to restore its factory specs. All the electrolytic and tantalum capacitors (as well as some sensitive film ones) have been replaced. The Key Assignment/FX section has been fitted with new buttons. All the potentiometers and switches have been cleaned. The keyboard has been equipped with new bushings and excellent modern contact strips by LA Synth. The oscillators have been carefully tuned; just remember to allow the synth to heat for 20 minutes after power up - this beast even has a separate board just for heating its VCOs. A well tuned and serviced Mono/Poly is a joy to play and improvise with! To finish things off, the instrument has been transplanted into a luxurious American walnut case by Mint Case, so it will never suffer from the ugly dings that plagued the original cheapo MDF case.

This machine comes in Japanese 100V voltage, with a user manual and voice chart, also in Japanese.
