For sale we have an Ibanez George Benson Signature GB40THII 40th Anniversary Hollow Body Electric in Vintage Amber Natural finish with non-original softly padded gig bag. The guitar is in excellent used condition showing minimal play wear with a handful of surface scuffs and scratches in the clear coat finish around the body as well as strum wear on the pickguard. You can find a few small pinhead sized dings scattered throughout the body if you’re up close looking for them. The original tailpiece was replaced at some point but has been reinstalled. There are two extra holes drilled in the lower bout that are still visible (see photo). The neck is in great shape showing only minor cosmetic wear with some superficial scratches across face of the headstock from string changes. Overall a well cared for instrument that has been played and enjoyed but not abused. Structurally sound with no cracks, breaks or repairs.
The GB40THII features a 24.7” scale length, fully hollow body with solid Spruce top, AA Flame Maple back and sides, cream binding, gold hardware, black single-ply pickguard, equipped with its original pair of GB Special humbucking pickups each with a dedicated volume and tone control, 3-way pickup selector switch, floating Ebony bridge and a VT14 tailpiece with a specially designed 40th anniversary wooden cover. The 3-piece Maple neck is glued into the body and features a medium sized C-shape profile measuring .830” deep at the first fret and .990” deep at the twelfth fret. Width at the (half bone, half brass) nut measures 1.71”. The bound Ebony fingerboard features a 12” radius, specially designed GB 40th Anniversary pearl inlaid fret markers and 22 medium sized frets with Artstar fret edge treatment (rounded and very smooth). The frets are in excellent shape with just a touch of visible play wear, very little. The neck is straight and plays great, notes ring clean and clear. Truss rod access is located at the headstock end beneath the George Benson signature logo branded truss cover and turns smoothly in both directions functioning as intended. The headstock sports pearl inlaid Ibanez and George Benson logos and gold Gotoh tuning machines with pearloid buttons. The guitar weighs in at 6 lbs. 1.5 oz.
