Based on vintage examples from the fifties and sixties that Gretsch actually finished with drum shell material rather than paint, the guitars in this limited run capture the vibe of a vintage Gretsch beautifully while incorporating modern manufacturing techniques to make a guitar with superior playability AND mojo.

The magic starts with a super-resonant piece of chambered African mahogany topped with arched 3-ply maple, a classic combo that gives these guitars a beautiful blend of warmth, sparkle, clarity, and three-dimensionality when played unamplified. Not to mention, these guitars are LOUD, so much so that when I pulled the first one out and strummed it, one of my coworkers heard it across the store and came running to see what it was.

That already expansive tone gets even better when you amplify thanks to the magnificent-sounding TV Jones Classic pickups, which give you everything you want out of a Gretsch. The high end has a beautiful sparkle and twang, the lows are fat and beefy, and the midrange has that inimitable vocal quality, especially in the upper mids. If you love classic Gretsch tone, you'll dig the way these '62 reissues sound!

In terms of playability, this Duo Jet earns sterling marks as well. The classic-U-shaped is uber-comfy, and the shorter 24.5" scale length gives the strings a wonderfully slinky feel, allowing you to bend strings and fret complex chords with ease.
