I am selling a 1976-79 Gibson Thunderbird bass guitar, “Bicentenial edition.” The bass is in perfect condition for use, with its original pickups; the neck is much thinner and more comfortable (like those from the 1960s) than later versions of the Gibson Thunderbird. Over the years, this bass has undergone the following modifications: The bass was professionally repainted and refinished, but in the process the serial number disappeared. The bass retains its original pickguard, which I am also including, but another identical and perfect one (though not Gibson) with an eagle and American flag was added, because the original is somewhat faded and also has a hole for a toggle switch that was once there. The circuit is not original, but perfectly functional.  New potentiometers and capacitor. The bridge is not original, but it is identical to the original. There is an additional hole underneath that someone made for another bridge, just below the bridge, due to a previous bridge it had (a “Leo-Quan-Badass”). The hole for an extra tone potentiometer has also been restored (this hole has been professionally sealed). The original tuning pegs were replaced with these ones shown here, identical and more functional Hipshot pegs. No cracks or repairs; the rest of the hardware is original. The string height is OK. Includes a Gibson case, which is not the original, but is almost identical, from a 1990 Gibson Thunderbird.   I am selling it for less than Gibson Thunderbird basses from this year usually cost due to all these modifications, but the bass is great for anyone who wants that vintage “Thunderbird” sound. The shipping price already includes insurance for the full value of the transaction; I don't know exactly how much it will be, but I'm aware it could be expensive.
