For your consideration is a late 90's, USA made, Peavey Wolfgang Special electric guitar. This guitar is believed to be a 1998 based on information provided by the previous owner, but we can confirm that it was produced after 1995 according to the serial number lookup on Peavey's website (SN: 91010893).

Co-designed by legendary guitarist Eddie Van Halen, the "Wolfgang" (named after Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart) is an offset double cutaway electric guitar that originally began its life with the Ernie Ball Music Man guitar brand in 1991. Eddie left EBMM in 1995 and by 1996, Eddie had worked out a new deal with Peavey for the Wolfgang guitar shape along with developing the widely acclaimed 5150 amplifier lineup. This relationship lasted 8 years up until Van Halen's departure from Peavey in 2004. Eventually, Eddie developed the "EVH" guitar brand in partnership with Fender guitars in 2007 and brought the Wolfgang and 5150 brands with him that are still being produced today.

This particular guitar is painted in a unique yellow color that we didn't see anywhere else online. Initially, we were unsure of the origins of this finish, but after looking more closely to the body, neck pocket area, and bolt section, we realized that it had been repainted from its original factory color of Ivory. We speculate that it may have been a "project" guitar to re-create Eddies "bumblebee" striped black and yellow design, but hadn't been completed yet. There are imperfections in this custom paint job as there are areas that the paint has chipped away such as the neck pocket, the truss rod wheel area, and the ends of the bolts. You can also see the original ivory color inside cavity areas and around pickup rings where the paint was not sprayed thoroughly. There is also a slight yellow color variations in the lower bout section of the guitar (see photos). This guitar can be played as shown and look great, but a prospective buyer may wish to sand down and repaint this guitar for a more professional color.

The guitar appears to have all of the other original hardware as it would have come with in this era other than case. It has been restrung with 9-42 EB strings and plays nicely. The D-Tuna will need adjustment for intonation upon arrival to it's new home, but otherwise should be ready to play out of the box! We recommend a prospective buyer still consider having a general setup with their preferred local tech be done upon arrival to its new environment and should consider these costs prior to making a purchase or offer.

It will be shipped in a nicely padded Gibson USA gig bag that is not shown in photos. If there are any questions, feel free to reach out!
