The Fostex DMT-8VL is a Japan-made, highly portable multi-track recorder with 8 distinct input/preamp channels. The unit is capable of 16 or more tracks of recording using bounce/mix-down techniques as well.

There is a reason that the preamp/mixer sections of these portable recorders have become prized recently for everything from direct bass tones to overdriven guitar tones. Sounds excellent and is highly versatile with extensive options for output/pass-thru to other recorders and equipment (in addition to the onboard storage).

S/PDIF optical digital I/O and fully MIDI capable, meaning it should be possible to establish transport sync with other digital portable recorders and/studio gear (think simultaneous synchronized recording with Pro Tools, Logic, or even an ADAT or other units/outboard gear configurations making it relatively easy to incorporate into a more modern setup, especially when compare to a cassette tape based unit of a similar vintage). Also has an input for an optional punch-in/punch-out foot switch (not included).

One owner from new. Original printed manual is included and in excellent condition. Unit boots up immediately, then briefly shows 'no disk' which goes away once it syncs up after a few seconds; behavior since new and does not impact functionality. From a smoke-free home studio environment and never used outside or at gigs. Condition is better than excellent for its age with no markings, tape, cracking, dents, repairs, etc. Display is 100% scratch-free.
