Vintage 1981 Fender Stratocaster USA Translucent Red Kahler Guitar OHSC 1970s
Here’s a bit of late-’70s/early-’80s Fender magic. A transparent red 1981 Stratocaster — one of the last S9 serials to roll out of Fullerton before the big transition. This one’s full of vibe and history, and it plays every bit as good as it looks. A few lovely details for the nerds among us - it has 1980-dated pots, 13th January 1981 body date, 016730-coded neck & middle pickups, and the neck is stamped B. Hilliker. It’s had a few clever upgrades over the years too, with a mirror pickguard, matching red hardware, Kahler tremolo, and a Kent Armstrong STH-1 bridge pickup being powered phase by the switches to the pickguard. It even comes housed in its original moulded hard case. There’s a bit of mystery to this one — it’s got the kind of wear, setup and stage feel that makes you think it might’ve belonged to someone notable. Can’t confirm it yet, but if anyone out there recognises it, drop me a message — I’d love to dig deeper. It's a truly stunning guitar, and has recently been setup and re-strung, ready to go. Grab a bargain! Please see the pictures below as these form part of my description.
