DW Workshop Series Maple 10/14/22 Shell Pack 2000 - WMP

Here’s a really cool piece of DW history. The short-lived Workshop Series drums.

The following info was obtained directly from the folks at DW pertaining to this set.

These are all-maple Keller shells, built in the Oxnard, CA factory with Collector’s level hardware, including STM mounts, 12.7 brackets, bass drum spurs, and the sliding bd double tom mount. The intention was to build a pro level kit that came in under the Collector’s series price point, but the build cost came out too close to the same, so the series was scrapped and the oval lug design and badge used to distinguish between the two lines became the design for the new Pacific series drums, with production being moved to Mexico/Taiwan/China.

The series was around for roughly 2 years, late 90’s into 2000, early ones made in Ensenada, later ones like this set in California. There is an Oct 2000 date stamp in the bass drum of this set. Most kits were satin lacquer, the WMP wrap like this one was used very late and is quite rare. While available, many pro DW players preferred these sets.

8x10, 11x14, 18x22 (depth x diameter)

This kit has seen lots of use, there are scuffs, scratches, etc throughout. Still looks great. Both bass hoops have some pedal wear (see pics), wrap is tight but shows two tiny bits of shell at the seam overlap on toms (see pics). DW does the wrap much different now. Hardware is good overall, shows scratches and light corrosion here and there.
