This is the humbucker that rewrote the rulebook—dual cream blades, epoxy-potted heart, and twelve-plus thousand ohms of raw persuasion. Made in the late ’70s during Bill’s Buffalo run, when these things were finding their way into B.C. Riches, custom Explorers, and the occasional Les Paul belonging to a player who didn’t believe in mercy.
Reads 12.88 kΩ on the Fluke, right where the XLs live—tight, muscular lows, articulate mids, and a top end that slices like a silver blade through a Marshall roar. The unbranded baseplate and gray four-conductor lead confirm it’s an early build, before production moved and the logos started showing up.
