The Subarashi is a trace by DeadEndFX of the SSBS Team Awesome Fuzz Machine circuit. Complete with vintage Soviet IT309 germanium transistors and Soviet D310 germanium diodes, just like the original.
With controls like Gain, Fuzz and Shape, the Subarashi is already a powerful and versatile fuzz machine capable of dialing in sparkly overdrive, to full blown and chaotic wall of fuzz at extreme settings. Although, it doesn’t stop there. We’ve also got a Clean Blend that not only makes this work incredibly well with bass, but also gives the overall output more of an edge. Then there is the additional footswitch that is used to activate a wonderfully gated fuzz. Nearing the end, we’ve got two separate toggle switches for Phase and Mids.
On top of all that, we’ve got a set of three internal dip switches that can select between buffered bypass and true bypass -with the settings outlined on the pcb right above the dip switches.
This circuit is well suited for just about any instrument sounding particularly well with guitar, bass and keyboards.
Controls are Gain (a sort of pre-fuzz input gain control), Clean (clean blend with full CCW being off), Fuzz (adjusts the saturation and its harmonic structure), Shape (adjusts the filter from rolling off highs turning it CCW and adding highs/mid range turning CW) and Volume (overall output).
Two way toggles are Phase and Mids. There is also an internal set of dip switches which turn the buffer on and off.
Right footswitch is Active/Bypass and left footswitch activates Gating.
