Up for sale, a 2022 Gibson Custom Shop 1959 ES-335 Reissue Murphy Lab Ultra Light Aged in mint condition, complete with the original Lifton hardshell case, CoA, and all hangtags. Produced in limited quantities, this Murphy Lab 335 represents the peak of Gibson craftsmanship: from laser-scanned dimensions to chemically-recreated plastics to color-matched finishes, every element of a 1959 ES-335 TD has been rendered in unbelievable detail, the culmination of decades of work by Custom Shop's expert team - a tireless quest to bring accuracy and authenticity to the hands of players.

Tom Murphy, the Master Artisan and namesake of Gibson's Murphy Lab, was central to the creation of the Gibson Custom Shop and personally developed the various processes on display for aging the finish, hardware and plastics of these instruments. With a quarter century in the saddle, Murphy is a celebrated authority for replicating the character of vintage instruments on the canvas of newly-created guitars.

True to the second-year spec of the 335, tonewoods include a three-ply maple/poplar/maple semi-hollow body with a maple centerblock, mahogany neck with a ‘59-spec Rounded C profile carve and a long neck tenon, and a bound Indian rosewood fingerboard. The semi-hollow construction ensures terrific natural resonance and an overarching dynamism, providing an ideal platform for the pickup pair. These Custombuckers have become one of Gibson’s most highly praised PAFs since their introduction, featuring Alnico III magnets and delivering terrific chirp, honk, and bloom, with plenty of midrange-forward warmth and growl with smooth-yet-punchy trebles. Weighing 8lbs 3oz, this Murphy Lab 1959 ES-335 TD has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
