Vintage MIJ Matsumoku Offset Tremolo Assembly – Mid-1960s (Teisco / Lynx Style)

Original tremolo system from a mid-1960s Lynx-branded Japanese offset guitar. This assembly is typical of Teisco ET-series guitars and similar OEM export builds from the mid-to-late 1960s. It uses a top-mount spring return mechanism with a stamped chrome plate and threaded lever-arm bracket.

This tremolo style was used on many Japanese Jaguar-style offsets exported under names like Kay, Kingston, Audition, and Jedson. A correct match for MIJ offset guitars produced between 1964–1968.

Condition

  • Cosmetics: Chrome finish is bright with moderate vintage wear. Surface swirl marks and some age patina are visible on the baseplate. No flaking, no structural rust.
  • Functional Hardware: Spring tension screws and arm bracket are solid. Springs retain tension. Threads in the trem block are clean.
  • Mounting Holes: All original holes intact and undamaged—no cracks or ovaling around screw points.
  • Fully Disassembled and Cleaned: Ready to install or polish further for display restoration.

Assessment: A complete, vintage-correct assembly in very good condition. Hardware functions smoothly and all parts appear original. Ideal for restoration of a 1960s MIJ offset guitar.

Included

  • Main tremolo baseplate with integrated arm bracket
  • Tremolo block with string-through slots and two spring cavities
  • Pair of original tension springs
  • Two spring tension screws
  • Internal string retainer plate (mounts below block)
  • Full set of 6 vintage-style chrome mounting screws

Note: Tremolo arm not included. Compatible replacements may be found via MIJ parts suppliers or retrofitted from Teisco-style arms with similar threading.

Compatibility Notes

  • Fits most 1960s Japanese offset guitars using top-mounted tremolo systems
  • Mounting pattern matches Teisco ET-series, Audition, Top 20, and other export builds
  • Works with two-post bar bridges spaced ~74–75 mm center-to-center

Notes for Collectors

This is a 100% original vintage Japanese tremolo system—not a reproduction. Identical hardware was used across multiple brands prior to the consolidation of MIJ manufacturing in the late 1960s. Rare to find in this complete condition with tension springs and mounting hardware intact. A solid piece for restorers or vintage-parts collectors.
