The Melo custom archtop JM3 is a high-end, 18-inch super-jumbo acoustic archtop guitar handcrafted in Spain by luthier Josep Melo. The model is dedicated to the legacy of legendary guitar maker Jimmy D'Aquisto. Key features
- Acoustic design: Unlike electric archtops, the JM3 was designed to have a strong, pronounced acoustic character.
- Construction: The top is made from carved solid European bearclaw spruce, and the back and sides are solid hand-carved fiddleback maple.
- Body style: It features a non-cutaway super-jumbo body, 18 inches at the lower bout.
- Headstock: The ultra-light headstock is designed for excellent balance.
- Soundholes: The f-holes are modeled after D'Aquisto's Solo-style segmented design.
- Bridge: It has an innovative, "wedge-adjusting" bridge. Instead of traditional thumbwheels, a single ebony drawbar adjusts the height evenly with thumb pressure.
- Tailpiece: The tailpiece height is also adjustable. It uses wooden dowels of different lengths, allowing the player to customize the feel and tone.
- Neck and fingerboard: It has a 1 13/16-inch fingerboard with a flattened neck profile for smooth action.
- Customization: According to Melo's 2002 catalog, the guitars are built to order and can be modified to suit individual players' needs. (Please refer to photo for custom details) Thank you for looking! :)
