From private collection up for sale near mint condition 1985 Boss DF-2 Super Feedbacker and Distortion, made famous by the legal dispute between Boss-Roland and DiMarzio.

Very fun to use, a DS-1 alike distortion with the Feedbacker bonus: just keep the foot button pressed and the pedals locks the current main note you’re playing and adds an high octave, which presence is customisable by the last knob.

Serial Number 580400, Made in Japan (Black Label).

Fully working, complete with box and manual.

I also throw in a boxed Boss ACA-230P Power Adapter and a genuine brand-new era-alike Toshiba 9V S-006P battery.

Follows description from manufacturer:

The Boss DF-2 Super Feedbacker & Distortion is a vintage distortion pedal known for its unique "feedbacker" function, which synthesizes feedback and sustain for a single note. Released in 1984, the pedal has a dedicated following among collectors and players who appreciate its peculiar features.

Key features

  • Distinct distortion: The DF-2's distortion circuit is similar to the popular Boss DS-1 but with a smoother, fatter, and less angular character. Some early versions of the pedal have been described as "not loud enough" and may be quieter than a guitar's clean bypass signal.
  • Unique feedbacker function: By pressing and holding the footswitch, the pedal detects the pitch of the note you are playing and synthesizes an artificial, sustained harmonic overtone. An "overtone" knob controls the harmonic content of this feedback.
  • Single-note sustain: The feedbacker function works only on single notes. It will sustain the chosen note until you release the footswitch, and it does not follow subsequent notes or bends. The feedback effect is described as artificial compared to natural amplifier feedback.
  • Controls: The DF-2 features four control knobs:
    • Level: Adjusts the overall volume of the distorted sound.
    • Tone: Controls the equalization of the distortion.
    • Distortion: Sets the amount of gain or drive.
    • Overtone: Adjusts the character of the synthetic feedback.
