Up for sale, a 1985 Gibson Les Paul Standard in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. The ‘80s represented a return to form for the Les Paul Standard model in terms of top-notch construction and tonal intent, and the traditional tonewood complement comprises a carved two-piece maple top, mahogany body, and one-piece mahogany neck capped by a bound rosewood fretboard.
At the heart of this Standard is the pair of original Tim Shaw PAF humbuckers, which represent Gibson's first, and arguably one of their most successful, attempts at recreating the magic of their late '50s humbucker design. Offered for only a few short years in the '80s, the Shaws are designed with unoriented, rough cast Alnico V magnets, plastic spacers, and poly-coated wire, achieving the harmonic complexity, power, and tonal clarity of the original PAF. These Shaws have a sweet, singing quality, sensitive to picking dynamics. Weighing 9lbs 4oz, this Les Paul benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The nitro lacquer Vintage Cherry Sunburst gloss finish (abbreviated VCS in neck pickup cavity stamp) is particularly bold, and the guitar shows light buckle wear across the back, some pick scuffing extending toward the knobs on top, and additional minor dings and finish scratches consistent with use. There is also one spot of impact just south of the rear control cavity cover. The gloss finish on the neck profile is nigh-flawless.
An era-correct black tolex hardshell case is included.
