This 3-chip EPROM set loads your Alesis HR-16 or HR-16B with sounds from two of the most important drum machines in music history: the Oberheim DMX and the Sequential Circuits Drumtraks.
Together, these machines defined the sound of 1980s R&B, hip-hop, and new wave. The Oberheim DMX (1981) was heard on records by Prince, Run-DMC, and Marvin Gaye — its open hi-hats and snares are among the most recognizable drum sounds ever recorded. The Sequential Circuits Drumtraks (1983) offered a similar palette used by The Human League and Depeche Mode.
What's Included:
- 3x custom-programmed EPROM chips (drop-in replacement for stock HR-16 / HR-16B sound ROMs)
- Sounds from Oberheim DMX + Sequential Circuits Drumtraks
- Bonus: upgrades your HR-16 OS to v2.0
- No soldering required — chip swap only
Compatible with: Alesis HR-16 and HR-16B
Note: For HR-16B, chip orientation is reversed — EPROM 16 installs into socket U15. Browse my other listings for more HR-16 EPROM sound sets and Alesis parts, or DM me for anything you don't see listed.
