1992 Gibson Starburst Standard Cherry Red – rare, Bozeman-built electro-acoustic with Fishman Matrix pickup and original case
Very rare 1992 Gibson Starburst Standard in Cherry Red. Produced for only two years at the Bozeman, Montana factory and reputedly designed by Ren Ferguson, this model is a standout among Gibson’s short-run acoustics. Built to commemorate the centenary of Orville Gibson’s first guitar sales, the Starburst Standard features a cutaway mini-jumbo body crafted from figured maple top, back and sides, paired with a mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard. Scale length is 24.75".
Factory-fitted with a Fishman Matrix pickup system and tone/volume controls, this guitar was designed with stage use in mind—its maple construction helps reduce feedback while retaining Gibson’s signature warmth and projection. The rosewood bridge is fitted with a Tusq saddle, and the fingerboard is adorned with distinctive star inlays.
This example is in very good condition for its age. There is some lacquer checking on the headstock face, but the frets are clean, polished, and show no signs of wear. Action is medium and comfortable, with a sweet, articulate tone that balances clarity and depth.
Includes original Gibson hardshell case. A rare and compelling electro-acoustic for the serious player or collector.
