MAKE OFFER!!! UPDATE!!!!! I WILL INCLUDE A MATCHED QUAD OF PEAVEY LABELED JAN PHILIPS 6L6GC. These tubes were removed from an original PEAVEY BUTCHER with about 8 hours on the tubes. These tubes in this amp create an unmatched tone. Price a quad of these (if you can find them) and you realize what an AWESOME DEAL this makes. I’ll ship the amp with JJ tubes and pack the JAN Philips in big bubble wrap inside the head or ship separately per buyer’s request. This amp is one of my best Peavey amps in my collection. But when we're adults buying a house, we let go of a few things. It physically hurts to get rid of this amp, but my loss can be your gain. This amp is excellent condition considering its age. ALSO this thing is LOUD and very HEAVY. Prefer Local Pickup but will ship. Since this is very heavy shipping will reflect this. Below is from the interwebs:

  • The Peavey Rockmaster is a 120-watt all-tube guitar amplifier head from the 1980s, featuring a single channel with multiple gain stages and a "pull" switch for added effects. Known for its high-gain capabilities and crunchy tone, it is often compared to a Marshall JCM800 and is popular for classic rock, blues, and heavier styles.
  • Key features
    • Power and tubes: It is a 120-watt amplifier, powered by four 6L6 power tubes plus a 12AX7 in the power section and two 12AX7 preamp tubes.
    • Channel and gain: It is a single-channel amplifier, but the single channel has multiple gain stages, including pre-gain, pump, and post-gain circuits.
    • "Pull" effects: The amp includes "pull" switches for features like "pull bright," "pull smooth," and "pull thick," which add different effects to the signal.
    • EQ and controls: It has pre and post gain, equalization controls, and a presence circuit. Some sources mention an additional "shift" knob for mid-range frequencies, though one user found it less useful.
    • Tone and sound: It is known for its high gain and a sound that can be similar to a Marshall JCM800, making it a strong option for rock and blues. Performance and reputation
  • Gain: It is capable of high-gain tones, but some users suggest a boost pedal is helpful for the highest gain sounds.
  • Pedal-friendly: It is known to take pedals well.
  • Build and reliability: As a vintage amp, it is considered reliable and well-built, especially those made in the USA.

Comparisons to other amps

  • JCM800: Frequently compared to a Marshall JCM800 for its gain structure and mid-range crunch.
  • Roadmaster: The Rockmaster is a different amp than the Roadmaster, with the Rockmaster being a higher-gain, single-channel amp while the Roadmaster is a two-channel, classic rock amp.
  • VTM: The Rockmaster is considered a predecessor to the Peavey VTM series, which later evolved into the 5150.
