Here is a really unique Stingray 5 with serious vintage mojo in the coolest finish: Vintage Creme/Ivory with a matching headstock! It is a Limited Edition that included the dark Tortoise shell pickguard and Rosewood fingerboard. I've never seen another one like it with these features. It's a great vintage vibe that harkens back to the early 60's P-basses used by The Beach Boys and others... a classic look. This bass has been well cared for over the last 20 years and it is all original with minimal handling evidence. It is set-up and ready to play-it needs nothing.
Produced at the Musician factory in San Luis Obispo California, U.S.A. in 2005. The body has nice lines and the Vintage Creme finish has toned to a nice Banana hue. There are a couple of line checks on the top, 2 on the side near the neck slot and some more checking in the contour on the backside-see photos. The checking really gives it that vintage look in my opinion. There are other signs of handling here and there, overall the finish looks nice. On the back, there is a "2005 Limited Edition" decal near the neck plate.
The neck is a solid fitment and the neck itself is smooth and super straight. The neck is 1.758" wide at the nut. The neck depth measures .785" deep at the 1st fret and .939" at the 12th fret. The nickel tuners all turn smoothly and the bass stays in tune perfectly. The headstock matches the body color and it looks great, along with the logo.
The Rosewood fingerboard is clean and very smooth. It really smooths out the tone and makes consistent playing a breeze. The frets have been polished and appear like-new condition-see photos. The action is low and the bass is really easy to play.
The humbucker pickup is accompanied by 4 controls for a variety of tones. The bass can be everything from smooth and deep jazz to a punchy attack. It is well-balanced and a lot of fun to play. It's right at home in the studio, on stage or even just playing on the couch. Comes with original MusicMan "2005 Limited Edition" brown tolex hardcase.
