Pendulum Audio PL-2 Peak Limiter – Excellent Condition

I am selling my Pendulum Audio PL-2 Peak Limiter, a highly regarded unit for both mixing and mastering applications. This unit was originally acquired in May 2020 from its second owner, and it has been meticulously maintained since.

Condition & Maintenance

• Fully functional, no operational issues.
• In 2024, one of the front-panel switches developed an intermittent noise—a very common occurrence with these units. After direct consultation with Greg Gualteri (Pendulum Audio) and their support team, the switch was professionally replaced. The unit has been in perfect working order ever since.
• Includes an additional replacement switch as a spare. We will need to coordinate this, if required, since the spare is not packed with the unit.
• The unit has always been used in a professional studio environment, handled with care, and is currently safely packed and ready for immediate shipping.

Usage & Performance

This PL-2 has been in daily use for several years as a key part of my analog chain for both mixing and mastering. Its sonic character is outstanding—natural, transparent, and musical.

• Peak Control: Exceptionally fast and reliable at catching transients, making it the last stage before my Burl B2 Bomber ADC.
• Circuit Options: Switchable between JFET and MOSFET topologies. While both offer distinct sonic qualities, I consistently preferred the MOSFET mode for its smoothness and musicality.
• Headroom & Gain: Typically allowed me to safely push +2 dB of gain at the output stage during mastering sessions, while also offering valuable extra headroom during mixing.
• Workflow: Functioned as a “safety net” limiter, ensuring controlled peaks without sacrificing tonal integrity.

Why I’m Selling

The only reason for this sale is practical: my work now involves extensive travel, and I’ve had to transition almost entirely to an ITB (in-the-box) workflow. Transporting my full analog chain has become impractical, so reluctantly, I’m parting with this unique and exceptional unit.
