Rare Fender Stratocaster International Color Series Cathay Ebony. Spectacular Condition! Minimal fret wear. All original parts, 3 gray-bottom pickups, pots, tuners, plastic parts. Neck is straight with some slight bird's -eye on the fingerboards, truss rod works. Coming in at 8.5 pounds. A few chips in neck edge finish near body otherwise virtually no wear. Original 4 latch hard black molded case.
The white pickguard and black pickup covers are standard for this series. This rare finish was introduced in 1981 and produced in the USA Fullerton Fender factory. Cathay Ebony was part of the "International Color Series ". Often sold as 1979 (based on the S9 neck and body serial number), those Stratocaster were built in 1980-1981 based on parts from 1978 to 1981.
