A lovely 1977 4/4 violin from the highly respected Reinhold Schnabl of Bubenreuth, Germany. This violin arrived to me in good condition with typical wear expected of a nearly 50 year old instrument and no repairs needed or past repairs noted. There is a small chip at the lower treble-side C bout corner in the top and a tiny nick near the base of the top. While visible these are small imperfections and do not distract from the beauty of the violin. The flaming in the two-piece back is special and the figure in the Spruce top reflects the eye of this master crafted contemporary violin. My work on the violin included redressing the fingerboard, fitting new Rosewood pegs w/ brass olives and matching tailpiece/chinrest, touching up the original bridge, and a good bit of cleaning.
I've paired the violin with an exceptional braided carbon fiber Glasser violin bow which was also featured in the playing video and is the same model as my son's primary violin bow. The case is a new Crossrock composite case with number dial lock. I fitted the violin with Dynamo strings and her playing test did not disappoint. This instrument has one of the clearest tones that I've heard across all strings with power and resonance in her voice. Since tone evaluation is subjective, please listen to the sound sample video and judge for yourself. This would make a wonderful instrument for a range of violinists especially an advancing student looking for a collegiate level violin.
I am a lifelong woodworker from a family of musicians (yep, that's my son playing in the video:) with a love for these old instruments. I am not a storefront, and I do not charge high storefront prices for my work. As such, I do not wish to enter into returns, so please view the high-resolution photos carefully, ask questions, and watch/listen to the video before purchasing.
*Sorry, I do not sell to shops. If you represent a shop or are a re-seller looking to flip this violin, please move on.
**Sorry, there is no international shipping; ships only to the lower 48 states.
***A note about tariffs, this is not a political statement. Tariffs are real and I am currently charged a 15% tax for European goods purchases. As I buy instruments primarily from Europe, tariffs are impacting my expenses.
