The Ernie Ball Music Man Pino Palladino Signature StingRay Bass is a faithful homage to one of the most iconic instruments — and players — in bass history. Modeled after legendary studio and touring bassist Pino Palladino’s original 1979 fretless StingRay, this Artist Series release captures every nuance of the original’s soulful tone and distinctive feel. Finished in a stunning ’79 Burst, this bass combines period-correct hardware and electronics with modern precision and reliability, making it an inspiring choice for professional players and tone purists alike.
The poplar body and dark-tinted maple neck with rosewood fingerboard provide warmth, resonance, and a vintage feel. The custom-wound, late-70s-voiced Music Man humbucking pickup and hand-wired 2-band active preamp deliver the round, woody thump and smooth growl that define Pino’s signature tone. With a strings-through-body bridge featuring solid brass saddles and adjustable mutes, sustain and tonal depth are exceptional. The asymmetric neck carve, modeled after Pino’s original, and GraphTech NuBone nut make for an incredibly comfortable playing experience.
Every detail — from the 3-bolt neck plate with micro-tilt adjustment to the vintage Schaller tuners — reflects Music Man’s meticulous craftsmanship. Whether on stage or in the studio, this instrument channels the essence of Pino Palladino’s sound and style. Available now at Haggerty’s Music, this low-end tone machine includes a MONO softshell case for premium protection.
