This is the definition of player-grade vintage. All of the vibe, appearance, and tone of a 1977 SG Standard with essential improvements for maximum playability. This guitar plays like butter and growls with a warm, thick tone perfect for rock, blues, and jazz. It would be well suited for any genre where a darker, rounded sound would shine.
No breaks, cracks, or repairs for damage, neck in excellent condition.
When I first obtained this guitar in 2022, I noticed that the tuners, pots, and bridge pickup had already been upgraded by the previous owner with modern replacement parts. That was fine with me, as any 50 year old guitar would likely need these sorts of touch ups in order to remain in optimal playing condition. The only issue I had was with the original frets, which had been worn down nearly to the fretboard itself.
So I took this guitar to a professional luthier who carefully refretted the guitar with jumbo stainless steel fretwire, and now it plays like a dream. Paid $650 and waited 2 months for the procedure– save time and money by picking this guitar up now, already in perfect performance condition!
There are some cosmetic blemishes to be expected from a 50 year old guitar that has seen quite a bit of playtime. I did my best to show what blemishes to expect in the pictures. However, I can vouch that in terms of sound and playability, this guitar is absolutely rock solid and ready to go.

More comprehensive notes on this guitar:
-1977 Gibson SG Standard in cherry with modern Gibson hardshell case (valued at $200!)
-7.2 pounds.
-No significant breaks, cracks, or repairs for damage, neck in excellent condition.
-Refretted in 2022 with Jescar 57110 Jumbo Stainless Steel Fret Wire (a $600-700, 2 month procedure that you would likely want to have performed on any guitar of this age. Skip the cost and wait time by picking this guitar up with the refret job already performed!)
-In total, the included case, strap, and refret job would value at about $1000
-Neck pickup appears to be original with a PAF number stamp and has an incredibly warm, rounded, soulful tone. Measured around 7k Ohms.
-Bridge pickup has a Gibson USA stamp and has a hot, powerful response that easily pushes an amp into overdrive. Measured around 14k Ohms and after research, appears to most likely be a 498T.
-I never drilled any new holes in this guitar, but the previous owner appears to have drilled holes on the back of the headstock to accomodate the upgraded modern Grover tuners.
-Previous owner also appears to have upgraded the potentiometers and capacitors within the control cavity.
-Everything else seems to be original.
-Various cosmetic blemishes on the body including pick marks, gouge marks, and scratches– free subtle relic job courtesy of father time.
-Free brown Gibson strap included.
-Also included in the case are optional cream mounting parts, knobs, and pickguard if you'd like to change up the vibe.
