Model Notes / Modifications:

The guitar is stock. As far as model notes, I don’t even know where to begin. I’d suggest googling some specs and watching some videos. There’s a lot to look at here.

The Sales Pitch:

If you’re here, you likely know what you’re looking at. Perhaps the most ambitious, perhaps the most hated, perhaps the most run over by heavy machinery, the Firebird X has quite the reputation in the guitar world.

Here we have what I’d call a players grade example. Overall it’s in good condition and is fully functional, but someone actually loved and played this thing, so there are swirls, small scratches, slight finish checking, and a couple of drop fills to fix some small dingers. My photos should overly highlight any issues. I’d rather underpromise and overdeliver.

As far as playability, the guitar itself is a very nice guitar. I was weirdly surprised by that given all the negative press it garnered.

I’ve had this in my collection for a few years now, but tend to gravitate toward grandpa guitars…so it’s sat in the case, mostly unplayed. This deserves to be in the hands of an actual collector or a player who may actually ROKK it.

It’s #26…so one of the early ones.

As far as price and offers go…I’m starting this one relative to completed sales over the last couple years. I am open to offers as I truly do want this cool guitar to have an owner that will cherish it, but I will probably want to leave the listing up for a little bit before taking anything significantly less than the asking price. Thank you for understanding.

Condition Notes:

  • This guitar is players grade. That said, due to the rarity, it may still be of interest to collectors. Please keep in mind that it is not mint condition. Please feel free to ask questions. I’m happy to provide specific photos…I have tons…Reverb limits me to 25.
  • There are no cracks or breaks. A previous owner looks to have done 3-4 small drop fills to the finish (see photos). They are functional and only noticeable up close, but they could probably be sanded down a little better for a cleaner look. It wouldn’t take much. I took them in the worst light at the most unflattering angles in the photos. In real life, they don’t appear “as bad”. Other than that, I’m not seeing any repairs.
  • I fully tested the guitar and all of the accessories both when I received it and prior to listing. Everything worked great for me.
  • The tuners all work.
  • The headstock has a small chip out on the bass side where it may have sat on a stand (see photo).
  • The truss rod looks good and works fine.
  • The nut is original and cut well.
  • The flame maple neck is pretty sick and in great condition. The back of the neck may have a light impression or two at most. Very smooth. Satin finish on the back of the neck was a good choice.
  • The finish is in generally good condition. I did notice some lacquer sink into the grain and some slight checking if you look really really closely.
  • The top has typical marks for a played instrument…swirls, light scratches, small impressions, etc.
  • The back has two drop fills (see photos), but is otherwise in similar condition to the top. Light swirls, light scratches, light impressions. There is a small scuff mark near the back plate. There’s another drop fill on the bottom edge.
  • Most of the batteries included are in varying degrees of PUFF. I would recommend replacing them. Luckily these are fairly common cell phone batteries that can be had on the big A or other platforms for $8-10 a piece. If you’d like me to remove the puffy ones prior to shipping, I’m happy to do so.
  • The guitar case and accessories bag have the “leather” portions of the material flaking off. As far as I know this affected 100% of these bags. Otherwise, they are in good shape.

The Fine Print:

I am happy to provide additional information / photographs upon request. Definitely reach out and ask if there's anything I missed or anything you want to know.

I am not interested in trades. I try to price my gear fairly based on hours I spend "researching the market". Please keep offers realistic.

I try to make sure all of my instruments are set up and play/sound great before listing them. That said, everyone has different preferences and sometimes traveling can cause movement. It would be best to expect to have to do a setup, but then be pleasantly surprised if you don’t.

All of my gear is sold as-is, but I won't leave you hanging if it arrives other than as-described / photographed. I will work to get your guitar safely packed and shipped out quickly (usually the same day or the next day). I take quick shipping and safe packing very seriously.

Much of my gear gets cross posted on my local FB marketplace for local sales. Please do not send me a message here on Reverb asking me to do a deal outside of Reverb. It is against their terms of service.
