This is a Besson BE982 Sovereign EE♭ Tuba, serial number 982-71xxxx, manufactured in the mid-1990s in the UK. The 982 is one of Besson’s flagship professional tubas, known for its rich tone, superb intonation, and excellent projection.
This tuba is in used, vintage condition. The lacquer shows normal cosmetic wear for an instrument of its age, with areas of finish loss, small dings, and surface marks (see photos). Valves and slides move but can smoother after more service, and the horn plays with the classic Besson sound. It is structurally solid and performance-ready.
It comes with a soft case.
