From PRS:
The PRS Custom 22 Piezo solidbody electric guitar combines the classic tone of vintage-style humbuckers and a beautiful, natural acoustic sound. It sports an elegant, figured maple top and is fitted with a modified PRS/LR Baggs piezo pickup system that gives you a gorgeous, full-bodied acoustic guitar tone. Separate output jacks and volume controls blend your piezo output with the Custom 22 Piezo's 85/15 pickups or send it out a separate signal path. With its fast neck and tasteful appointments, the PRS Custom 22 Piezo is a must-have.
Choice tonewoods protected with PRS's amazing V12 finish
To give the Custom 22 Piezo a rich yet balanced sound, PRS began by selecting the tried-and-true combination of mahogany topped with maple. The Custom 22 Piezo's mahogany body gives you natural tonal warmth, which really adds character to its acoustics. By nature, mahogany is a bit dark sounding, which is where the brighter tone of the maple top factors in. Together, these tonewoods give you an incredibly balanced sound. And thanks to PRS's ultra-durable V12 finish, the Custom 22 Piezo feels and sounds like it's coated in well-worn nitro.
PRS/LR Baggs piezo pickup system lets you blend in a natural acoustic tone
Redesigned to fit the solidbody Custom 22 Piezo, the PRS/LR Baggs piezo pickup system onboard this guitar gives you access to the natural acoustic sound of its mahogany body. A control knob lets you blend the sound of this pickup with the sound of the Custom 22 Piezo's humbuckers, adding a woodier quality and extra sustain to your tone. There's also a separate output next to the Custom 22 Piezo's main output that lets you send just the sound of the PRS/LR Baggs piezo pickup system to an acoustic amplifier. Sweetwater knows that your guitar's tone is important to you, and we're confident that the PRS Custom 22 Piezo has the tone you're seeking.
Wide-ranging tone from 85/15 humbucking pickups
To create the 85/15 pickups, PRS took their Standard Treble and Bass pickup designs from 1985 and updated them with everything they've learned since then. The original '85 pickups were voted one of the 33 biggest pickup design innovations by Guitar Player magazine. The updated 85/15 pickups balance vintage character with modern clarity.
