Here we’ve got a killer 2002 Gibson Custom Shop Historic ’54 Les Paul Custom Reissue in classic Ebony, loaded with gold hardware and fitted with a factory Bigsby for that extra touch of vintage swagger.
This reissue nails the spirit of the “Black Beauty” era — chunky mahogany body, one-piece mahogany neck with an ebony fingerboard, block inlays, and multi-ply binding all around. Up front you’ve got the unique Alnico V “staple” pickup in the neck paired with a classic P-90 in the bridge, delivering a broad tonal range from warm jazz cleans to snarling rock grit.
The Bigsby adds both visual charm and extra vibe, and it’s set up beautifully — smooth to use and keeps tuning stable with the Grover tuners. It comes housed in its original Gibson Historic hardcase, complete with the Custom Shop certificate of authenticity and case candy.
If you’re after an early 2000s Custom Shop piece that blends historic accuracy with serious playability, this ’54 Black Beauty reissue is the real deal.

Condition
This one is in great shape for a 20+ year old Custom Shop piece. There are some light surface marks and small signs of play, but nothing beyond honest wear — no cracks, breaks, or repairs. The gold hardware shows some natural patina from age. Frets are in excellent condition, neck is straight, and everything works as it should. A very tidy example of an early 2000s Historic.
