This is truly 1 of 1!
All original 1952 Gibson Les Paul Gold Top! The holy grail of historic Left Handed Gold Tops. There is no other. This is the only verifiable 1952 Lefty that I was able to find thru research and from Gibson that has a gold back. Feel free to contact Gibson to verify everything stated in this description.
You will find other guitars that claim to be from 1952. But the backs are wood, and so they may be early 53 or require additional verification.
I contacted Gibson and they had no record of the 1952 Gold Top standard releases including a left-handed Gold Back model. So whoever ordered this lefty gold top in 1952 put in a custom order. So this may be the first and only known 1952 left-handed Gold Top with a Gold Back that verifies it was one of the first or the first ever made.
Original 1952 gold tops can also be visually identified by a couple of unique features. One noticed that the back of the gold top is completely gold covered. All of the gold tops after 1952 have a wood back. Second look at the high top knobs. These are only on the first year of release. In 1953 the knobs were shorter.
The Guitar has also been authenticated by a certified vintage dealer.
The Guitar has recently been set up by a local professional Luther and it plays amazing! It’s a 1952 but the neck feels like a 59. It’s not a baseball neck at all. He also replaced the tailpiece with a Mojo Ax so you can easily palm mute. The original tailpiece along with the original case are included.
Specs:
Neck is Brazilian Rosewood.
The Pick Ups and Electronics are all original along with the frets. The Guitar sounds absolutely amazing. It’s a extremely unique tone. It has all of the warmth and gooey thickness that we all love about P90s. However, these original pick ups along with the Potts create a very open and airy sound that has a beautiful bell top end. I have other P90 guitars and none of them have the top end of this original 1 of 1! There is just something about the vintage process they used to create these pickups along with natural aging and oxidation that gives it a unique sound that not even custom stop Murphy Labs can match.
We already have Interest from a few local buyers so if you are serious, I would recommend that you act quickly. This is truly the rarest of the rare and will not pop up on here ever again.
