The Hamer Prototype guitar is a unique electric guitar model known for its combination of humbucking and single-coil pickups, offering a versatile range of tones. It was designed as a custom guitar for Andy Summers of The Police in late 1980 and later became a production model.
Design: The Prototype features a double-cutaway, contoured mahogany body.
Pickups: It's equipped with a DiMarzio PAF humbucker and a DiMarzio single-coil pickup, allowing for both humbucking and single-coil tones.
Electronics: It has a 3-way selector switch to choose between the humbucker, single-coil, and a combination of both (triple-coil). It also has volume and tone controls.
Other Features: The Prototype has a black pickguard, chrome hardware, and a set-in neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard.
Historical Significance: It was the first production-line Hamer guitar to feature both humbucking and single-coil pickups.
Guitar is in rough shape cosmetically (See pics and note price) but plays and sounds like a dream.
