(Serial Number: 12070) Excellent plus condition. The Ochestra Model (OM) is one of the most versatile guitars out there. It excells as fingerstyle steel string guitar, but it flatpicks pretty well too! The compact shape makes the Collings OM equally easy to handle onstage or when sitting on the couch, and the relatively shallow body – barely over 4 inches deep – results in a balanced tone and immediate response. This guitar features a mahogany back and sides with a Adirondack red spruce top and a varnish finish. This guitar features a Honduran mahogany back and sides with tortoise body binding and ebony butt wedge, Adirondack red spruce top with scalloped braces, and a varnish finish. The fretboard and bridge are ebony. Scale is 25.5 inches with a 1.75 inch bone nut. The ebony belly bridge has 2 3/16 inch string spacing at the bridge. Fitted with nickle Waverly tuners with butterbean metal buttons. I think the varnish finish sounds warmer and "looser" or more "relaxed" than nitro lacquer. I prefer the sound (and also the warm glow) of varnish, but note that the finish is softer and will tend to dent rather then scratch. This guitar sounds amazing.
