The Fender Jaguar was introduced in 1962 as Fender’s new top-of-the-line instrument and was an alternative to the Jazzmaster. Both guitars had a modern body shape with floating tremolo. The Jaguar differed in its use of a shorter 24-inch scale length and stronger single-coil pickups, which were encased in notched covers to shield the electronics from external radio noise.
The serial number on the neck plate of this Fender Jaguar 1963 Electric Guitar starts with an ‘L’. These guitars, built between 1963 and 1965, are sometimes referred to as “L-Series” because they are considered to be the last series of guitars made before CBS’s 1965 acquisition. The serial number dates it to 1963 and the neck stamp on the guitars reads “1AUG63B.”
