1981 G&L Nighthawk – Excellent Original Condition w/ Hard Case
Up for sale is a very cool and increasingly rare 1981 G&L Nighthawk in natural ash finish. These early G&L instruments were built in Leo Fender’s Fullerton factory during the first years of the company, and the Nighthawk is one of the more distinctive and under-the-radar models from that era. Key Features & Specs:
- Body: Solid ash with a beautiful grain and warm honey natural finish. Lightweight and resonant.
- Neck: Bolt-on maple neck with comfortable C-profile.
- Pickups & Electronics: Classic early G&L single-coil pickups with the characteristic Nighthawk layout (two single-coils in the neck/middle positions and a special bridge unit). Original controls, 5-way selector, volume and tone knobs.
- Hardware: Chrome bridge, sealed tuners, and black pickguard. Everything is original and in great shape.
- Finish: The natural ash finish shows light play wear (expected for a 45-year-old guitar) but remains very clean overall. The wood grain really pops under light.
Comes with the original G&L hard case (black tolex, plush interior, still functional with working latches). This is a fantastic example of early G&L craftsmanship — punchy, versatile, and full of that Leo Fender DNA. Great for classic rock, blues, indie, or anything that needs sparkling cleans and snarling overdrive. These early Nighthawks don’t come up for sale often and are starting to get the collector recognition they deserve.
