New Taylor Presentation Series 12-Fret Removed from the case twice once to inspect and again to photograph for this posting.
The PS12ce 12-Fret bears all the artful detailing and tonal sophistication that makes the Presentation Series the most elegant and well-appointed in the Taylor line. Solid Honduran rosewood back and sides pair with a sinker redwood top sourced from submerged logs in California riverbeds, resulting in a stunningly articulate, yet warm and balanced sound with soft-touch sensitivity and plenty of headroom for more aggressive playing styles. V-Class bracing dials up more volume and sustain inside the Grand Concert body, and the 12-fret setup brings your hands closer together for a more relaxed feel. The PS12ce 12-Fret features an armrest and slotted headstock along with inlays and details in mother-of-pearl and paua. It includes ES2 electronics and a hardshell case.
Exotic tonewoods set the tone
For the PS12ce 12-fret, Taylor chose to pair a beautiful sinker redwood top with a Honduran rosewood back and sides. Sinker redwood’s tone is a mixture of cedar’s warmth and the clear, punchy attack of spruce. Honduran rosewood is warm and balanced, with an ear-grabbing, harmonic-infused edge. When you combine these two tonewoods, you create a resonant guitar body that has noticeable midrange definition and plenty of volume.
Grand Concert body design meets V-Class bracing
Introduced in 1984, the Grand Concert is the smallest of Taylor’s full-size body shapes and was designed to appeal to fingerstyle players. It has a slightly wider neck and shorter scale length that lends itself to easy fretting. Now, the classic Grand Concert body style meets Taylor’s V-Class bracing system. The V-shaped bracing is strong enough to resist the tension of the strings, yet it’s flexible enough to let the top vibrate freely. This bracing helps to create a more orderly sound and refines intonation. The result of the body shape and bracing is a guitar that keeps unwanted overtones in check and provides a clear, focused tone.
Slim, smooth neck
No guitar is complete without its neck. Taylor stays true to their roots with a tropical mahogany neck and West African ebony fingerboard that produces clear and bright note definition. This Taylor PS12ce has a 12-fret neck joint that warms up the sound considerably — a feature that Sweetwater’s guitar players love. With its slim carve and satin finish, this neck feels right at home in your hand. The 15-inch radius ebony fingerboard adds an extra brightness to the mahogany’s creamy midrange focus. To play this neck is to experience love at first note.
Innovative Taylor Expression System 2 electronics
When you’re ready to plug in the PS12ce 12-fret, you’ll be blown away by Taylor’s ES2 pickup. Located behind the saddle, this pickup is more sensitive to the movement of the bridge. Instead of sounding thin and synthetic, like other bridge pickups, the ES2 system captures the entire sound picture. An acoustic guitar has never sounded more present and fuller when played through an amplifier. What’s more, the Taylor PS12ce 12-fret’s depth of sound and presence allows it to track well with other instruments onstage and in the studio.
