Aesthetically stunning, we present this Rick Turner Electroline a reinterpretation of a classic instrument. We are extremely impressed with the level of craftsmanship and versatility that Rick Turner Guitars has achieved with this model. The tonewoods used are gorgeous while the stunningly unique and ergonomic body design creates a very inviting playing experience before you even plug the instrument into the amplifier. The control layout is familiar and simple but its incorporation of a Scott Walker Buffer Boost in addition to the Master Volume and Parametric EQ knob gives the player the ability to conjure a wide array of tones. We love this approach; it is very intuitive and a ton of fun! There is a mini-switch that engages the Scott Walker Buffer Booster preamp. When it is activated, the Gain Control for Boost knob controls the volume of course but also “flavors” the boost through a great range of tones.
The pickguard on this Electroline is incredibly stunning; it made of a rare and striking material, Kirinite. This isn’t a guitar you’ll see anywhere else. Its sonic versatility and artful aesthetic makes for a truly unique instrument. The black neck and headstock binding wonderfully frames the Rosewood neck and fretboard. All elements of this Electroline work in concert to create a truly sophisticated look for a discerning guitar aficionado.
In the words of Rick Turner…
Borrowing the profile from our Electroline basses (but shrunk down a bit), the guitar variant uses a trio of our unique single coil pickups, fueled by an active Scott Walker Buffer Booster preamp. Scott’s preamp brings a clarity, depth, and power, paired with Rick’s pickups, that we continue to produce in-house. It is the perfect 9v preamp to complement the Electroline Guitar. With the boost disengaged the guitar has a distinct voice and buffered fidelity that grows to a robust roar upon activating the gain-adjustable boost circuit. These full-sounding pickups stay present in a band mix, and utilize a unique slant that makes switching between pickups intuitive and with a focused set of tonalities.
Three knobs include tone (passive), volume and gain control for boost. Available in hardtail or vibrato-equipped models. In the spirit of the Model 1, these guitars are exploring beyond their inspiration and platform, and with Rick’s signature inspiration and innovation.
The Electroline features three single-coil pickups, wound here at Turner Guitars, using a larger wire than most single-coil pickups and Alnico 5 magnets resulting in a low DCR (CD resistance) but maintaining strong output and a clear tone. The design originates from the coil in the horseshoe pickup of the Turner Model T, and Rick modified it for this guitar. Shielded for low-noise and selected with a 5-way blade switch. Uses one 9 Volt battery.
