Squier by Fender Limited Edition Standard Series Stratocaster 2003 with Alnico V single coil sized Humbucker Pickups and Parallel/Series switching
Squier by Fender Limited Edition Standard Series Stratocaster 2003 with Alnico V single coil sized Humbucker Pickups and Parallel/Series switching
This Limited Edition Squier Standard Stratocaster has a full thickness solid alder body, a 22-fret fingerboard and a fast action neck, making it ideal for upgrading.
On this guitar the stock pickups have been swapped out for a hand wound 3 pickup set of Alnico V humbuckers, each with a 4-conductor lead wire for multiple wiring options.
Each pickup has been wired through a mini DPDT On/On mini switch to select between series or parallel modes. In humbucker mode (series) the output is strong with a smooth attack and a deep tone. In parallel mode, the sound is very clean and sparkly with lower output (both modes are hum cancelling).
The high output single coil sized bridge humbucker has a resistance of 10.02kΩ.
The middle position split-pole pattern single coil sized pickup has a resistance of 10.26kΩ. Having this pickup in parallel mode adds a more sparkly tone in positions 2, 3, & 4 when the neck and bridge are in series mode.
The neck position single coil sized humbucker has a resistance of 9.41kΩ.
The original ‘single pin’ tuners have been replaced, and roller string trees added at the headstock, to ensure more stable tuning. A new whammy bar is included.

I believe this guitar was originally a limited edition model in Silverburst (597) which can be seen when the pickguard is removed, and at some point a previous owner has had the guitar resprayed in Black. I do not know if the perloid pickguard is the original and faded/yellowed, or if it is a replacement.
The guitar has been set up with a low action and to Fender specifications for, neck relief, intonation, string, nut and pick up height.
The neck is in good condition with some fret wear at the first 5 frets – see photo - it plays well and there is plenty of life left in it. The bodywork is in very reasonable condition having been resprayed some time ago, so there are some minor dings and scratches to the finish from normal usage.
Collection is preferred or I can send via Parcel Force and fully insured for the value paid. I will add a new set of strings.
