This beautifully restored mandolin was crafted around 1910–1920 by the renowned Sicilian luthier Giuseppe Indelicato Contarino in Catania, one of the most important centers of Italian mandolin making at the time.

The instrument is a fine example of the traditional Neapolitan bowlback mandolin, distinguished by its richly decorated soundboard and carefully inlaid details. The bowl is constructed from elegantly curved rosewood ribs, now displaying a deep shine after meticulous restoration. The spruce soundboard features an oval rosette with delicate mother-of-pearl and ebony inlays. A striking detail is the black lacquered pickguard, adorned with floral motifs inlaid in mother-of-pearl, along with a portrait of a young woman – a decorative feature typical of this period.

The maker’s stamp “G. Indelicato – Catania” is clearly visible on the soundboard, confirming the instrument’s provenance and authenticity.

The mandolin has been fully restored and finished with a traditional French polish in shellac, bringing out the beauty of the wood and preserving its historic character. It has been newly strung and is ready to be played, while also serving as a highly attractive collector’s piece.
