A very desirable Model, this early RK has the ‘Super Krupa’ - “Clam Shell” strainer with Aftermarket - ‘Extended Snare Wires.
This snare has an Excellent,’ ORIGINAL FACTORY ‘ White Marine Pearl finish.

Please Note: There are some Shadows in the photos that you may see. But, this WMP finish is Beautiful and has no real Discoloration!

There is minor wear or blemishes in the finish associated with playing and age.
It’s in absolutely gorgeous condition.

As vintage collectors, we refer to this snare as the “Clam Shell” strainer. Slingerland’s Catalog describes this snare as the
“Super Krupa Model.” This snare has the 7x14” Solid 1-Ply Maple Shell with the renown Super Krupa - “Clam Shell” strainer design, equipped with Extended Snare wires.

A Brief Radio King History:
The first “Krupa” model Radio King cataloged, technically had the 3-point strainer, 8-Streamlined lugs and was
6.5 x14“.
The later “Hollywood Ace Model” was 7x14” equipped with 16-small beaver-tail lugs.
Slingerland also added a “Buddy Rich,” Center lug model with 8-center lugs, simple butt plate.
And, later a 16-Lug model added with simple butt plate to their Catalog.

This RK Snare Drum is Sporting the original Chicago, Illinois “Aluminum War Time” Badge. A Nice Tight original factory installed grommet.

In addition, this R.K. snare is in Excellent condition and almost all original with brand new, Remo Ambassador plastic drum heads. There are all Original Strainer System Nickel Parts With a Chrome button knob. A very nice thick 1-ply solid Maple shell is completely “in round.”.
The Remo drum heads practically spin on.

The Vintage finish is a WMP that “Gene Krupa“ & “Slingerland” made so iconic.

This WMP finish has the old school vibe with a great geometric pattern, very vibrant. Also, this WMP finish has a very vibrant coloration & condition. There are no defects or imperfections in the finish from wear & usage.

The Seam is very tight and solid.

The Finish has a nice old school look & cool vibe.
Overall, the Nickel hardware is nice & all original. All Nickel lugs & 16 tension rods are factory correct.
Again, These finishes are very hard to find without issues in such awesome condition.

If you have been searching for a matching RK snare for your 40s Aqua Blue kit, your search is over.
This RK snare drum would be a great addition.

The shell construction is the desirable,
1-Ply, Solid Maple Shell with Solid Maple reinforcing hoops. A very thick Solid Maple Shell, that has a beautiful inside wood grain and finish.
BTW, Many Radio Kings where made with the 3-Ply shell.

This drum is equipped with the full flanged, “Full Flanged,” ‘Stick Eater’ Nickel Over Brass rims.
Again, a very nice “in round” solid Maple shell, as heads go on with ease!

Slingerland was stamping the Radio King logo in their rims starting around 1936.
This RK definitely has “Slingerland Radio King” stamped on the top rim.

The 16 Lugs are Crafted in Art Deco design and fashion. All lugs and Inserts are in smooth working condition.   There are no issues, cracks or major fatigue.

The throw-off is the Clam Shell Strainer that works and functions beautifully with original throw Handle. The Slingerland ‘Original‘ snare wires engage & release positively with smooth on & off action.

The dual black factory muffler functions flawlessly.
18-strand snare wires are installed.

This Drum has that great Radio King sound, wonderful dynamic response, with great warm sensitivity & tonality, cutting through all band instruments.
