How long is the battery life?
About 10 Hours on a typical pedalboard (8 to 10, 9V Pedals, 300 – 350mA total)
Can I use a standard power bank instead?
No, these batteries can only supply 5 volts. Our system is designed to provide the required voltage. Standard batteries may also power off automatically if the pedalboard does not draw enough current
Can I bypass the battery and use an outlet?
Yes, our kit includes a power supply with a USB-C cable. Simply unplug the battery from the gateway and connect the cable from the power supply instead for continuous power.
Will the battery auto-shut off?
No, the battery will stay on until the user manually switches it off. This is a feature built in to prevent accidental shutting off during use.
Can the battery kit be used on other pedalboards?
Yes, the kit is designed to be used with any pedalboard on the market.
Can I use it for higher voltage pedals?
No, the kit is currently designed to only power 9-volt pedals under 500 mA. How quiet is the signal? Ultra quiet, our patent-pending Gateway hub delivers quiet power with proprietary noise filtering.
Is it recommended for digital pedals?
Yes, but combining analog and Digital pedals on the same daisy chain is known to introduce noise. Our noise isolator (sold separately) will fix that. Simply plug an isolator before the digital pedal to completely isolate it from the chain.
Can the battery be charged while in use?
No, If the battery runs low during performance, you can switch to the USB wall power supply or additional batteries can be purchased.
How many pedals can be used with the system?
The stock daisy chain can power 8 pedals. Additional plugs can be added (sold separately) The real limitation is the combined power draw of all your pedals. The XPND system has a maximum output of 1500mA.
Can this system power tip (+) pedals?
Yes, by reversing the plug connection you can change its polarity. You would just match the red stripe on the plug to the black side of the power cable. Please be careful and ensure that you maintain the correct polarity for your pedal to avoid damage to the pedal.
What is a mA?
mA (milliampere) refers to the amount of current that a pedal requires to function properly. When setting up a pedalboard, add up the mA requirements of all your pedals to make sure the total current draw doesn't exceed the capacity of your power supply. For example, if four pedals draw 50 mA, 100 mA, 20 mA, and 150 mA, the total draw is 320 mA.
Can I use the Backup Power Cell with other products?
No, the XPND Portable Battery cell is designed to work as a backup to the XPND Power Kit only. It won’t power up other daisy chains or power supplies.
