This old 60’s Telestar double neck came to me in 1997. Heavily water damaged and rusted. I almost turned it away. The fretboards were warped and delaminating, as was the body top and back (it’s a hollow instrument). All the chrome was rusted horribly. The first thing I did was bring all the metal to a chrome plating company. They took all the parts and proceeded to loose them all! I became very disillusioned at that point and kinda gave up.
But within the last 3 years I got very serious about it. I found the trem on eBay and got very excited. I fixed both necks which was a huge job considering the warpage. I glued the body back together. I found some very similar guitar pickups in my pickup box and when I spotted the matching bass pickup on Reverb I knew it’s time had come!!!
I made plastic pickup rings to replace the chrome ones and I think I like it better!
The bass bridge is a newer fender style and the bridge is a rickenbacker copy.
Knobs are old teisco knobs as is the trem and arm. Tuners are original. Bass neck was refretted but the guitar neck has its original jumbo frets which were leveled and dressed for low action.
The action is superb and the tone rings beautifully, with its bound hollow body and cool surfy single coils!
I am sooooo excited. A 30 year repair job! I really thought I’d never live to see it done!
Lots of finish damage but guitar is fixed, strong and reliable. Necks are straight and electronics are new and sound great!
Sorry no case
