This is an offer to recone your D110F speakers to original style factory vintage kits.

The second picture in the series of pictures shows the actual Recone that you can expect to get if you go to a licensed JBL repair Tech, compared to my custom vintage style. And I bought the driver because it wasn't usable because of a RUB. There's really no contest. While the kapton may have the edge, if you're playing in the tropics, I dare say the efficiency of the paper kits means less heat and a longer life, provided you operate them within the listed wattage and parameters (4 in a super reverb wouldn't be 1/4 of this!).

Yes, they'll last longer! The speaker I'm reconing here, developed a rub, directly next to the seam on the Kapton. The coil and the paper overlay were unglued at that point, which caused the shape of the coil to slowly distort. And that's what caused the rub. Would it have ever happened on this coil? Not for that reason. The coil and the various layers will stay securely glued for the life of the coil. A big reason to use this kind of paper coil former is the fact it can be securely glued, and the glossy surface of the synthetic always presents a challenge!

I had some of these frames for a long time and had always planned to do something with them, and when I looked around, there was no original style kits to be found anywhere! The coils were always unfortunately plastic of some type, or aluminum! The real sound of these speakers, comes from having all paper kits! It is a vastly different sound, and they really aren't that delicate! I mean they were jbl's for goodness sake! The paper kits were the ones that made these speakers famous and before they went higher up the food chain, they were in the business of making incredible instrument speakers for professional musicians and not these sonic weapons they make now!

The offer is for the Recone service on a single speaker. With vintage style kraft paper formers, and flat edge wound aluminum coils, with correct spider and correct 8.5 in cone with cloth surrounds, doped with the same secret formula that JBL used, with aluminum caps mounted directly on the coil. The ones that I have installed in my little amp that I built in the picture, were just too amazing not to share!

People see me playing through two of these and they keep looking for the 4x12, they literally do a double take, seeing this little amp that comes up to my shins, until I show them the back... Ooh! Wow.

This will only happen for a short time. And if you have any extra frames you want to trade for partial, that would be awesome as well!

If your frames require a lot of extra prep, that may cost a little extra, but I'm reasonable when it comes to these things. And as far as I know, I'm the only guy out there currently using anything resembling the original kits. Which kind of blows my mind! You can check out the pictures the last few pictures in the series are actually of a k-series D140 style speaker. From the mid 70s. It didn't blow, fyi. It was a 4-ohm Oddball variant that was made specifically for a Leslie 925 . I really couldn't find any other use for it so I put another kit in it. But this is what I'm talking about! Original motor in tact! My kits nearly exactly mirror The Originals. And I've been doing this for a number of years, primarily working only with vintage style kits, tone sluething and rebuilding, salvaging original coils and Cones whenever possible.

I've done everything from Altec 604a duplex speakers to Walsh Ohm speakers... plus make my own custom variants and mods. I'm really into it and love making a difference, and finding out definitively what already did! Thanks for looking!
