This is based on the AionFX Onyx which is based on the Boss SG-1 Slow Gear! This is an amazing, rarely understood, rarely imitated reverse noise gate (it's literally the NS-1 in reverse in fact). It's also better known as an auto swell or bowed effect. A few others make a clone but it's still hard to beat the original.
controls:
• Attack sets the speed of the volume swells. It’s highly interactive with the Release toggle.
• Sensitivity sets the signal level going into the envelope detector.
• Release (toggle switch) sets the time constant of the “hold” on the signal, which also impacts the onset speed of the swell. The stock position is in the middle, which is the fastest setting, while the
other two positions increase the swell time.
Big heads up - if you don't already know, this effect is weird and you need to experiment with it in ways you might not be used to. Check out the video below and whatever you can find on the Internet. To begin with, you have to change your playing style more then likely (but with the added release switch, probably less than you would with the original - although, like most "weird" pedals, it still works best on the neck pickup and single notes) but if you can get over that, you'll be greatly rewarded. This thing is fun and will push your creativity in very new ways. Once you get the hang of it, don't forget to eat and drink and take walks! 😝
