Beautiful 1971 Gibson SG Deluxe historic restoration in original cherry finish. The restoration parts have been curated with the utmost attention to condition and functionality. Get the best of both worlds - vintage tone and feel with modern reliability. The restoration combines vintage ('79) Gibson T-top pickups and Gibson OEM parts with new CTS pots and Switchcraft components. Please see pictures for full assessment of body dings and scratches. Below are some of the more noticeable ones.
- there are dings in body and headstock that have been touched up with red paint at some point
- there is a small chip in the 9th fret inlay that was repaired, but is imperceptable when playing
- there is a finish chip in the volute but the neck HAS NOT been broken.
Overall the neck and body are in fantastic shape for a guitar this age. There is zero finish checking or cracks and the neck is straight and flat with ideal relief. Guitar comes with a pro setup and fresh Elixir 10-46 strings. Action is 1.75mm at 12th fret of low E and 1.50mm at 12th of high E. Truss rod is fully operational with plenty of movement in both directions. The following is an assessment of OEM parts vs reproduction parts.
Tuners - Grover OEM vintage, very good condition. Work better than many of the tuners on my new guitars, lol
Pickups - 1979 Gibson T-tops, matched pair (Apr 24 & May 22 of 1979) vintage, these are fantastic sounding
Witch hat knobs - Gibson OEM vintage, good condition, awesome mojo
Strap buttons - Gibson OEM vintage, again mojo
Bridge - Gibson ABR-1 OEM vintage, very good condition, has a small filler repair in low E saddle, intonation is dead on and fully adjustable
Tremolo - Gibson branded Bigsby OEM vintage, soft, buttery vibrato... soooo good
Truss rod cover - Gibson repro
Pickup mounting rings - Hosco repro - hard to find, good quality
Pickguard guard and control plate - Chandler Music repro, very high quality reproduction
Electronics - StewMac Golden Age pots, switch and jack (CTS, Switchcraft), StewMac... speaks for itself
Screws are a mix of OEM vintage and new
