This is an ELK fuzz pedal released in the mid-1970s, a popular BIG MUFF copycat! Early version!
It's modeled after the original BIG MUFF-Ï€ first model. In addition to this early model, which bears the "BIG MUFF SUSTAIN'A'R" designation, there are also later models with the lettering "BIG MUFF SUSTAIN'E'R." Naturally, the exact name became problematic, and the model name was later changed to "SUPER FUZZ SUSTAINAR." Branding also includes "ELK GAKKI CO.", "ELECTRO SOUND CO.", and unbranded (no labeling). We've also carried many ELK fuzz pedals in the past, and while the sound varies greatly depending on the model, this one offers a rough, powerful, and thick distortion with plenty of sustain. The tone control is a standard high-cut type. This unit uses NEC 2SA733 transistors, but other options include 2SC829, 2SA495, 2SA564, and 2SA564. This is a rare model that has become extremely difficult to obtain in recent years, so don't miss this opportunity!
*There are signs of adhesion (likely tape marks) on the case, and the set screws have been replaced.
