This is a 1968 Epiphone Texan, made after the Gibson acquisition of Epiphone. It differs from the J-45’s produced at the same factory by the headstock, pickguard and longer scale length. The adjustable saddle (and everything else) is completely original, except the bridge pins and strings of course. It has the original Gibson serial number 518022 stamped on the back of the headstock. Apparently the screws in the pick guard were used in 1968, but not in 1965.

This one plays as it should. The neck is straight, action is low and frets are dressed.

PLEASE NOTE: This model has a nut width of 1-9/16 (1.563)”. This one actually measures 1.570”.

Cosmetically it has several small dings and finish checking on the sides as shown in the photos. There is one small area on the upper left bout on the soundboard that has some finish checking. The soundboard and back are absolutely beautiful.

The brand new Epiphone case shown is what the guitar will ship in. However, the original plush-lined, semi-hard case is in nearly perfect condition and would be shipped in a separate container.

Due to the beauty, originality, excellent playability and overall condition of this 57 year old guitar, it is worth a good bit more than average pricing.
