JML Studios was recently hired to build this guitar for another recent biopic from a real Gibson faded worn cherry. I cannot publicly say which film (Disney don’t play with NDA’s) but I can say this is a very special guitar and is even cooler in person. Plays incredible. Disassembled entirely and every inch was distressed/modified/upgraded to look and play beautifully. 6 or 7 reworked coats of Stew Mac deep Nitro finish with months of work underneath. Original Hand wound Gibson 490 pickups. All original Gibson parts. Neck is very good and straight as an arrow. Would be 10k if it were a real 70’s road worn SG! Two parts were added to this guitar that are not original : the pickup covers and vibrolo term. Everything else came stock and is original.
It’s been distressed and modified to look like an old vintage 70’s SG that lived at power station studios NYC back in the day, however it actually started it’s life as a 2010 “SG Special Faded Cherry” model in near mint, unplayed condition. A ton of work went into this guitar to get it where it is and it sounds and plays amazing.
Finish was treated with liquid nitrogen and should check (crack up) very nicely over time if played often, as it is meant to be. Aftermarket Tremolo works perfectly.
Handmade in Nashville by Gibson and modified in NJ by JML Studios for use as a film prop.
Comes with a modern, high end aftermarket hardshell case in perfect condition.
